Rebecca Early

I recently attended a very inspiring lucture with Rebecca Early, a London based textile Designer who is also Senior Research Fellow at Chelsea College of Art and Design, University of Arts in London. Rebecca begon as fashion designer (she has a MA Fashion from Central Saint Martins), her handprinted collection was colourfull and unconventional, she designed a sweatshirt that does not need to be washed! Since 1998 Early has been interested in how textile and fashion impact upon the enviroment, and has focused on exploring the role that the designer can take in effecting these issues. Her research projects seek to combine eco design theories with practice based explorations, resulting in fashion textiles arteficacts that have lower enviromental impact.
