Future Landscapes

Future Landscapes from Kim Costantino on Vimeo.

Interesting project of the Social Design Master student (Design Academy Eindhoven), Kim Costantino. He is researching, documenting and talking with the people involved in the Turin-Lyon Hihg Speed Railway line discussion.

"Future Landscapes is a research and an exhibition about the conflict around the construction of the New High Speed Railway Turin-Lyon and the No TAV social movement. To understand the tangibility of the conflict and of the landscape I want to go beyond the interpretation that the media give of the story. In April I'll walk from Turin to Lyon, across the Alps, 300 km in 20 days. The slowness of the walk will allow me to observe the landscape and get into direct contact with the conflict, to document the signs that it left on the territory. The final product of this experience will be a map of the struggle between promoters (pro TAV) and opponents (No TAV) of the railway. The result will be shown in a exhibition called Future Landscapes in June 2014. The exhibition is an attempt to make the problem graspable and to understand the many aspects of a conflict that goes beyond the construction of a new railway. The walk will be documented in real time through the Facebook page of the project."

Gathering - Li Edelkoort trend forecasting

Gathering
In an unstitched society suffering from a long-lasting crisis that has made humans ferociously protective and arrogantly egocentric, it is time for mending and gathering, restoring the fabric of society. To pick up the pieces and bring them together in a multitude of possibilities, a quilt of substance, able to absorb shock. To layer and weave different entities and characters into one textile of existence, waiting to be embroidered on. To veil one cloth with another in order to give colour to the human condition. To weave flexible geometric patterns into the development of enlightment, able to structure the future. To pleat and fold matter into newer, sharper form, to bring innovative architecture to life and planning to society. To stitch fresh cottons into female form, lending a robust hand to otherwise light weights or to gather linens into billowing beauty in order to control volume. To frill heavier silks to become amazing spheres of rustling matter, running to the revival of a baroque momentum.
All these interventions on the surface of the fabric of our lives are meant to restore trust and faith in the capacity of humans to work and play together. To bring talent to the table and share it with all. To celebrate the possibilities that lay in front of us, ever more creative than in the recent past.

Overgrowth - Parker Fitzgerald & Riley Messina

"Overgrowth is a new and ongoing artistic collaboration between photographer Parker Fitzgerald and floral designer Riley Messina.

Inspired by a pursuit of beauty, Riley combines classically thoughtful botanical designs with Parker's carefully considered film images in an expression of the multifaceted relationship between humankind and nature. The two artists contrast anonymous portraiture with sweeping landscapes in an attempt to capture both the malleable and untamed aspects of the natural world."

I love this project!!!

Ulla von Bradenburg

In her films, drawings, and installations, German artist Ulla von Brandenburg explores how things are staged and made theatrical, the relationship between audience and actors, the rules of performance, and the overlap between reality and illusion. In her first solo exhibition in Austria, Innen ist nicht Außen [Inside Is Not Outside], Ulla von Brandenburg is showing her new film Die Straße [The Street] as part of an installation which she created specially for Secession’s main gallery.
